Privately Stewarded Cloud Forest Reserve
Mindo, Ecuador
At Mindo Lindo, forest trails, a canopy observation tower, and daily wildlife activity offer an intimate encounter with the cloud forest of Ecuador’s Andean Chocó. Sloths move quietly through the trees, rare magnolias bloom along shaded paths, and an extraordinary diversity of birds fills the air with sound. The reserve welcomes only a small number of guests each year, offering a personal and unhurried experience rooted in family hospitality.

Conservation
Ongoing reforestation, species protection, and ecological monitoring grounded in long-term stewardship.

Birding
Private birding in Mindo (and beyond), shaped by over three decades of field experience and deep knowledge of Ecuador.

Eco-Center
Workshops, educational programs, and gatherings focused biodiversity and sustainable land management.
Fundación Ecuador – Verde Esperanza
In 2023, Pedro and Heike joined colleagues to establish Fundación Ecuador – Verde Esperanza (FEVE), formalizing and expanding the conservation work that began at Mindo Lindo. FEVE advances forest restoration, biodiversity protection, environmental education, and scientific research through collaborative partnerships across Ecuador.

Family Stewardship
Family-owned and operated by Dr. Heike Brieschke and Pedro Peñafiel, Mindo Lindo reflects a lifetime of dedication to the cloud forest. Over three decades, their restoration work has transformed a former cattle pasture into a thriving reserve where conservation, research, and hospitality meet.
